The mentors below have volunteered to offer free, half-hour one-on-one sessions for advice, guidance or general questions about navigating the media industry. Be sure to read our FAQs about the program ahead of booking a call.

Matt can coach and mentor on being a positive and effecitve manager, editing and organizing investigative projects, public records, preventing burnout, data journalism, and maintaining work-life balance.
Vishakha can coach on audio and video reporting, diversifying skills, navigating newsrooms (particularly as a non-citizen), and balancing creative side projects.
Marc can coach skills including on-camera presentation, writing, producing, live shots, interview techniques, videography and editing.
Sara can coach on navigating your first job, combatting imposter syndrome, starting a new beat and breaking into political and/or fact-checking reporting.
Jodie can coach on various aspects of broadcast journalism including investigations, story development, reporting, writing, and delivery. She can also share expertise in managing people and projects, including multi-platform collaborations.
Marina can coach on getting into journalism if you didn’t have a j-school/program; covering breaking news, politics, and culture/entertainment; managing irregular work shifts; navigating how to switch beats; and advocating for yourself early in your career.
Ghazala can coach on standards and ethics, having difficult conversations, and professional development opportunities.
Sara can coach on project management, boosting productivity, giving/accepting feedback and collaboration.

Megan has both a print/digital and broadcast background. As a former IRE trainer, she has experience teaching investigative and data skills. She currently freelances in rural South Dakota.
